Photographer's favourite: bridal party party

Image
Between wedding ceremonies and receptions the wedding photographer gets to spend an hour or two with the best dressed people of the day. I asked my snap-happy professional photographer friends about their favourite bridal parties. If you like their jazz, click their name to see their portfolios! Check out the other blog posts in this Photographer’s Favourite series Bek Grace Nothing like celebrating your day with your closest. Kieran from Poison Apple Studios Fan of the walking dead? These guys were. What more can I say… Morgan Roberts These guys keep telling me that their friends at work love this photo the most, and always asked how it happened. Totally candid, Jess was removing little bugs from Rachael’s dress and the others found it rather amusing. I love moments like this, the imperfection conveys the humour and tells a great story. Kylie from Just For Love Photography Kylie & Bill got married in Newcastle, NSW, both with a huge love of the beach and all things Kom...

What makes Made with Love different?

Image
Every now and then I’ll sit down with a friend in the wedding business and ask them “what makes you different” because there are so many wedding businesses around. Hopefully this blog post, and others, help you find the right people to help you celebrate your marriage! I’ve known Carla from Made With Love for almost a decade. It was her mother that introduced me to the concept of greeting people with a kiss on the cheek, something I’d never done before! Her brother is the friendliest human I know and was my first friend on the Gold Coast. So when I found out that Carla was in the wedding dress game I had to sit down and talk business with her! Hey Carla! Introduce yourself and Made With Love Hi Everyone! My name is Carla and I am the owner and designer of Made with Love. Made with Love is a new online boutique store selling affordable, unique wedding dresses, veils, flower crowns, head and foot pieces. Why are you selling wedding dresses? The love of my lif...

Photographer's favourite: wedding style

Image
Photographers are some of the luckiest wedding guests, they get to just look at everything, and then take photos! I asked my buds in the photog world what the favourite wedding style is that they’ve shot and here’s their list. Check out the other blog posts in this  Photographer’s Favourite  series Kylie from Just for Love Photography A little sexy black & white photograph of the garter that one of my gorgeous brides Kahlia was wearing on her wedding day Matt Palmer from York Street Creative I’m a guy, and I like taking photos of dresses. What’s up with that? This dress photo is one of those that look incredibly simple and completely hide the difficulty in creating them. The beautiful white dress sitting against the curved grey rock wall really does it for me visually. Kieran from Poison Apple Studios I love the slightly different but every so quirky details that make a wedding unique. Be it an antique brooch bouquet or interweaving your owl fetis...

5 BS facts about weddings everyone thinks are true

These are the top five things I need to myth-bust when I meet with couples as we plan their wedding. Remember, your wedding is in Australia and there isn’t a director or a camera, so American cinema rules need not apply to your wedding! Apologies if your wedding is outside of Australia … I don’t know the rules where you are! It’s not legal until you say “I do”. In fact you can have a legitimate, legal and awesome ceremony without I do-ing to anything. Guests are to be given the opportunity to object. The only time I’ll ask for objections is if I’m in a gossipy mood. If someone has an objection to your wedding taking place they really should say something beforehand. Like, really early on. SOMEONE has to walk the bride down the aisle. Unless she is physically unable to arrive to the ceremony on her own, she is welcome to walk anywhere, aisle or otherwise, by herself, or with someone else, a family member or friend, or even her groom! ...

An Irish wedding music guide

Image
Guest blog: Choosing songs for your wedding, songs to dance to and songs to walk down the aisle to, is seemingly a topic that burdens many a bride and groom. This guest post from Glen Baker of  A Few Good Men Band  should give you a few tips and I think it’s amazing that almost the same percentage of weddings being officiated by ministers of religion is the same as civil celebrants in Australia!

Photogs capture the coolest moments of your wedding day, and one of the favourites for all of us is that first look, the first time a grooms sees his bride.
